 Daniel Walter
The reason why we chose Daniel to play as our main artist in our music video, is because
of the way he looks, not only the way he looks, but also the clothes he owns. Daniel already
has the hair length and colour that we were looking for, he is also just generally a good
looking guy. We thought it would be much quicker if we just took part in the music video.
As our music video is based on a relationship, a sexual one, we are both in it together, as
me and Daniel are currently in a relationship. We didn't manage to find anyone else willing
to be as revealing in the music video, yet me and Daniel are very comfortable and
confident around each other, and on camera. Daniel doesn't mind wearing make-up or
dressing up, this is also a main reason to why I chose him. Daniel is very good at lip
syncing, and knows all the words to the song.
 We're creating a gothic looking male artist, who is known for wearing
make-up. We want to create a unique artist, who looks free, and comfortable
looking different from everyone else. We want him to really stand out, but
at the same time have a memorable star image.

I really enjoy wearing make-up and dressing up, for me dressing up a little

bit revealing is ok if it's only for a music video, but that's it. I enjoy acting

and playing different roles. I feel comfortable around Daniel all the time,

and I am not at all embarassed to be in a sexual music video with him.

As long as we achieve the abstract, interesting music video we aim to, 

then it doesn't matter to us, just as long as people enjoy it and find it cool.

I don't mind wearing gothic make-up, and I have a lot of dressing up 

clothes, so this makes the process a lot easier and quicker. We already

have everything we need to achieve the gothic voyeurism style we want.

After my research into gothic/punk fashion I decided to draw my own. Thinking about the two characters in our music video, the main singer, and of course the female who is a big part of him, they both have similar fashion sense, and I have decided to draw them both out. I designed costumes, props for both characters for our music video. When designing these costumes, I had one thing in mind, which I made careful of. I took more care and focused on our main artist's appearance, and clothing to make sure it is clear that he is the one who is meant to stand out, the one with a stronger image. So here is a picture of my drawings, of both characters in our music video, obviously our main singer is the male.

Me and Daniel really like the idea of using voyeurism in a music video. But obviously not over the top, as that wouldn't be appropriate. We can't decide whether we are going to use intertextuality, or voyeurism, or who knows perhaps both if we can find a way to.

But anyways, we looked into examples of both to see which of the two we were most interested in.

Here are examples of video's which use voyeurism, and we discussed how we became influenced by them.

I think that fragmented shots of body parts used in a music video are catchy sometimes, but only when not too revealing. I love the fact that everybody gets a chance to be free. Voyeurism video's show that an artist is comfortable with their image and body.

Voyeurism adds fun and entertainment to both females and males audiences. Me and my other group member both agree to using voyeurism in our A2 music video we are going to be making this year. We like the idea of a gothic sexualised look, and we are going to use this in our music video.

The title of our chosen song is called "Pretty little angel"and it is going to be about this guy which used to be in a relatonship with this girl, but they brake up and his ex still wants him in a sexualised way. Through this video we are going to have many shots of the guy singing, but also of the girl almost trying to win him back by arousing him. He still has strong feelings for this girl and almost gives in to her.

Rather than a boring fully obvious narrative music video, we thought this would be more unique and fun to make. Me and my group thought it would be interesting to use a few bondage props, but obviously not the extreme ones. We were also thinking that our artist(the guy) will be sat on a chair perhaps tied up, or maybe blindfolded. While this is happening, the guy is singing whilst the female(his naughty ex if you want) is pleasuring him in so many different ways.

The type of shots that are going to be used in this music video, we were thinking quite a few of them will show the notion of voyeurism. I feel this is very easy to achieve, as long as we find the right kind of characters. Both people acting in this music video must be confident, and ok with showing their body parts off.

We chose a song which is a fast beat song, so therefore we can have a lot of shots showing their sexual relationship. This makes it easier for us to create the dramatic and abstract effect we are hoping to create.

I really enjoyed the Stripper music video, the one with the three girls painting the guys body with a paintbrush, and you get extreme close-ups of the action.

Brainstorming our ideas.

We started to brainstorm our ideas as a group for our music video. We started thinking about our initial pitch and storyboard, as well as our mise-en-scene etc.

First we thought about how to make the best pitch idea for our music video,and then we thought about what the individual shots could be, as well as the shot order. We decided to have a female actress, and a male artist (protagonist) as our singer. We also decided the style and appearance of our lead singer.

We ended up talking and brainstorming as many notes as we could, focusing on our chosen genre(Electro-house).

Our pitch

The intial pitch idea for our music video was based around an electro house music video. The song that our group have came up with is the song - Moonbootica - Pretty Little Angel. With this video, our group was thinking of making a music video based between a relationship that isn't seen as a "normal relationship". This type of relationship is between a girl and guy that have just broken up but the girl still wants the guy in a sexual way and is using her girl powers and beautiful taunts on the guy which he cannot get away from. Within the music video that we're going to create for this song, our group thought of using a gothic theme for the mis en scene of the song. This included black paint, emo/gothic hair styles, a lot of black lipstick and eyeliners/eyeshadows for the make up for both actors. Our group thought this would be fun and interesting for creating a music video to. Here is the original music video to the song.

As you can see, we're going to completely change the music video of the song to our own unique version for the song. The original isn't really sexual in any way compared to the lyrics that are used in the song.

For our pitch, our group thought of using a narrative in our music video and a bit of performance. Our group thought this would be an effective way of showing our music video across. For the start of the narrative, we thought that it should start with the guy lead singer of the music video looking towards the camera and singing into the camera so the audience get the image of the star straight away. After it shows the start of the lead singer/artist singing into the camera, there's going to be different shots of the girl that's also in the music video. This includes the girl touching the guy's chest and putting paint over his chest while the guy is still looking towards the camera. This can show that the guy doesn't care for the girl in an emotional way anymore (relating to their previous relationship together). There's going to be different shots of the guy sitting down on the chair, laying down and standing up looking at the camera. The guy would not be seen as a normal guy as he wears a lot of gothic make up.

To get a good idea of what sort of costumes and fashion we might consider using in our music video, I researched into different fashion trends, for women and men, starting from the 1910's to our time now.

 Now  obviously this goes back a long time ago, when people were seen either upper class or
lower class in the way they dressed.  I don't think it would be easy to make a music video using this sort of style, as it would be very difficult to get hold of these sort of clothes.

For our music video we are hoping to make a modern look, rather than a historical one. Our mise-en-scene is going to look gothic, but a more recent kind of gothic. We are hoping to give a new modern day look, with new looking clothes, but gothic ones. Our main artist is going to be similiar to the one from "Panic at the disco" so therefore that sort of style is not 100% latest fashion, but not far off. Kind of like the artist below.
