Artist Website Analysis

The reason why I am researching into different kinds of artists and their official websites, is because part of our media coursework is to create our own website to sell our artist/band. 
I have looked into different artists and different genres, to see what is included in each, and 
how the styles vary. Also by doing this, when I have to create my own I will have a better idea of what theme to choose and what colours I may use. 


Black Veil Brides official band website Analysis.

Black Veil Brides are a metal band, who have a very dark image. Here is their bands official website, and I am going to analyze what is on that website. Black Veil Brides have a very unique style and are interesting to look at.

The background of the website is the Black Veil Bride logo, this is pretty much seen on all their clothes and represents their band. Their chosen theme is gold and black, which are two very unique colours to put together. On the right corner of the website page there are two facebook logos for the fans saying like, and share. There is also a twitter one saying tweet, this enables the viewer to connect with the band through other websites too. The list of the pages at the top include: home,archive,twitter,Facebook,tour dates,Merch,fan mail address,fan questions,BVB international, contact us.

Here is the information about the band tours and concerts, and the dates of them. This allows the fans from all over the world to know what the band is up to, and when everything is happening.

Fan mail address.

Here is the address of the main singers relative, the address the fans can send their gifts to. This is really interactive with the band and their fans, as it keeps in contact with them and lets the audience do their part.

On all of the other pages, you can find Black Veil Brides on Twitter & Facebook. All you have to do is go onto the website and all the information is there for you. The BVB international page, has a list of official websites for over 5 different countries. So you can find the BVB website in more than just one language, how amazing is that!. The fan question page is also ineractive, as it allows the fans to ask their own questions to the band, and the band will then perhaps answer some of them. On the Merch page, it tells you everywhere to go to collect the bands CDS, t-shirts,bags and more items. This website is pretty much made for the bands fans, and is almost like a guide for them. 

Also on the website there is a big picture on the left with a list of their songs, albums which looks smartly edited, and on the left there is a picture of the band and a big title of the band name.

As you scroll down the page there are more photos of members of the band,fan art,video's and other interesting things for the fans to look at. There are also little blog posts of the band describing how they feel today, and telling their fans what they've been up to. 
This official website is a good way for the fans to keep up to date with the band, and for them to see a insight into the bands personalities and lives a bit more.

Kylie Minogue official website. 

Kylie Minogue is a female artist who is a famous pop singer. Her image is completely different to the previous band I looked into, and I am going to analyze her pop official site as well.

As you can see Kylie's official website has a lot more colour and glamour to it. There is a video in the center and a logo on the top left. The design of her website is completely different to the previous one I looked at. On the left there is a picture of her in fashionable clothes and jewellery, this lets the fans see into the other parts of her career, not just her singing. In the centre of the website is a video of her saying a message to her fans, and wishing them a Merry christmas. Then on the right is another image, telling her fans where they can find her Twitter, and below that is her Facebook too.

The pages on Kylies website are: Home,Timeline,News,Fashion,About lyrics,Videos,Galleries,Discography,Store,Blog,Tour,Kylie at home,Merch.

From my research I have learnt that almost every artist/band website has as much connection with their fans as possible. There is always a way to contact them, for example through websites like Facebook and Twitter. Kylie gives you insight into her lyrics and allows you to see what else she has to offer.

You can tell Kylie Minogue's website looks a lot more mainstream, as there is a lot more on hers. She has pages with images of her modelling and in action, as well as video's of the same too. On this website there is just so much more about the artist herself, rather than connection with her fans. There is also a lot more colour in the pop website, but that is understandable. I learnt the genre makes a big difference, and the kind of artist image you are looking for is important when making the website. You have to be careful not to get the theme wrong.

Now I have a bigger idea what pages to include, and what sort of photos to include when I come to design my own website.
