Voyeurism is an theory proposed by Freud that has been applied to music videos. Basically the camera is used as the audiences eyes watching so they can gain sexual pleasure. Voyeurism is more frequently used in music video's to represent women as a sexual display, while the male sex are looking and watching gaining pleasure from these women. But voyeurism can be for women's sexual pleasure too. Ever since Voyeurism has been used, music video's have had a massive increase in viewers, because it's a good way to grab male and female attention. Sometimes in music video this is a good way for a famous singer to become more popular and noticeable. Usually in music video's men are often surrounded by women in bikini's or women that are half naked, only so often do you get it the other way round. Voyeurism is usually for sexual pleasure, with the camera being the male gaze looking at an object which is often women and the way they're being presented.
Both artists Beyonce and Lady gaga are known as attractive women with strong sexual approaches in many ways. They're both often showing body parts in a sexy way through many of their music video's. They are presented as powerful women seen as more controlling than the males within their videos, but are still used to be presented as male belongings. These particular artists aren't ever complete objects, they are usually more controlling in their music video's.
Not only do the visuals suggest voyeurism, but so does the song itself. The title of the song is called "Video phone". Many of the lyrics involve ideas of voyeurism, and this whole idea of Beyonce and Lady gaga being recorded by the men, allowing them to gaze at them anytime they want. These particular lyrics already tell us this video is aimed towards males, and their attention. "Can you handle it"- this lyric however, suggests that the artists are flaunting their bodies because they know the males gaze will be very focused, and turned on by what they're doing and how they are moving."I want to make sure you're remembering me"- Lady Gaga and Beyonce are using their ass,legs,cleavage all to trap the male gaze and seduce them. "You like what you see?"- Their performance is all about using their bodies to trap them guys in and it's almost like a war between Beyonce and Lady Gaga with the camera itself, it's like they're too hypnotizing for men, and that their body can get a man to do anything for them.
At the start of the music video, Beyonce is surrounded by men in suits,
having only just some of her body covered.
The men are behind her, following her, almost like they're after her.
This tells the viewer that Beyonce is a lead singer and that it's about her appearance.
It also shows Voyeurism because there is more than just one guy following her,
telling us she is a popular attractive women towards the opposite sex.
Later on in the video we see men camera's used as their faces, this is a strong way voyeurism is used within this music video and it relates to the idea of male pleasure, gaining it through watching the women as they move their bodies about with limited amounts of body parts covered.
This shot is very interesting, as Beyonce is holding a laser gun in her hand and pointing it towards the male. Also, the male's faces are covered by something suggesting they are weakened by her sexual attitude in the music video. Also the guns tell us this is for male sexual pleasure.

Through the remaining shots,fragmented body parts are shown which adds to this whole idea of voyeurism. Lady Gaga and Beyonces legs are spread wide open, almost like they're both getting ready to do a lap dance. This long shot shows both figures, the white female and the brown one. This would give men sexual pleasure.the close-ups of the artists faces, shows their make-up and luscious lips, and other facial features which are used to create voyeurism.

This music video portrays voyeurism in many ways. The Ying yang twins are well
known for having a celebrity upper class look, the mis-en-scene in this music
video is all pretty expensive and attractive looking, especially the two men wearing
the suits and black glasses, giving them the typical dominant lady boys look.
In the music video there is a shot where a number of attractive women are
surrounding the Ying Yang twins wearing just bra and knickers, touching
and rubbing their body seductively.
Throughout the whole music video voyeurism is basically shown.
The lyrics show that they're in control of women and get a lo of
women attention. At one point there is a shot of them in a really
expensive car with the lights on, and there is a women infront of them
showing off her body and shaking her butt. Also there is a part where
thes Ying Yang twins are taking pictures of a woman laying on the floor
doing a sexy pose. Many shots in this music video are showing how
life is for the Ying Yang twins, money wise and sex wise. They seem
popular with good looking women, as so many seem to be in the showing
off their bodies.
Also in the song at the part "wait to you see my oh" and then the girl
follows along with a moan, this shows women gain pleasure from
being in this video, and really enjoy it. This makes the Ying Yang twins
look big as they are surrounded by gold,champagne,women,cars, all this
are female attractions and pleasures, showing the Ying Yang twins have
all that.
Overall there are some very sexual whispering, and seducing shots for
both male and female to enjoy.
Wynter Gordon is well known for performing all kinds of sexual dances/performances
throughout her video, but the unusual thing about her videos is that she always seems to
be on her own doing them. Wynter Gordon is always showing off her body parts, legs
and is always dressed to gain male attention.
This song particularly is one of her strongest voyeurism products, and was even made
for the male eyes only, but for females to watch and dance a long to, or connect with.
The biggest sexy thing about this song, is definitely the lyrics. The lyrics are strong,
and would grab any guys attention. The line "can you make me scream?" strongly
relates to anybody in a married relationship, or anyone who has a relationship even.

showing the screen that she's desperate for someone to love. Also, her outfit always
changes, and so does her make-up and hair but it always looks attractive. Wynter

Wynter Gordon is fully unafraid to let herself go in her music video's, and likes to
have a little fun, this is why she performs different outcomes in her music videos to
other artists/singers.
We know nothing about the artist in this, only her looks and we get a slight idea
what she may be like, but this isn't about her personality, and this doesn't have a
narrative, she just wants males to enjoy the music video. This music video is
mainly made just to sell the artist(Wynter Gordon), and by showing off her
body/making her features stand out, makes it even easier.
